Visit Visas

Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter another country must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for a temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. Visitor visas are nonimmigrant visas for persons who want to enter the country temporarily for tourism, or for any other purpose of temporary nature.

You may be able to extend your stay as long as the total time you spend in the visiting country as a visitor is no more than 6 months.

For example if you have been in the UK as a visitor for 3 months, you can apply to extend your stay for 3 more months.

You must apply while you’re still in the visiting country and before your current visa expires.
A single entry visitor visa allows the holder to enter Canada once. A multiple entry visa allows the holder to leave and re-enter Canada several times during the length of their visa’s validity. Visit Visa allows a limited period of travel within a country.

  • for leisure, for example on holiday or to see your family and friends
  • for business, or to take part in sports or creative events
  • for another reason, for example to receive private medical treatment

Visitor Visa can be applied either online or on paper.
