Parental Sponsorship Canada
Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Visa Canada
Sponsoring your relative through the parent and grandparent program has been a popular route for many foreign nationals. Canada believes that immigrants and their families should be together in Canada which is why they pride themselves on family reunification.
Canadian citizens, and permanent residents living in Canada can sponsor their parents and grandparents, but they are required to provide care and support to sponsored family members once they arrive in Canada. When you sponsor persons who are members of the family class, you must sign an undertaking with the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship The undertaking is a promise to provide financial support and basic requirements for the family members you are sponsoring.
Canada randomly selects and invites potential sponsors to apply to sponsor their parents and grandparents.
Invitations to apply are sent after CIC reviews the submissions and remove duplicates. This process is to make sure every interested sponsor has the same opportunity to be invited to apply.
The person you are sponsoring must also be eligible to come to Canada, pass medical exams, present police clearance documents and collect biometrics. Sponsored parents and grandparents become permanent residents of Canada, with all the benefits that come with it. This includes the right to live and work in Canada without restriction on location, time, or sector, as well as access to publicly-funded health care and other services.
Ultimately, sponsored parents and grandparents may become Canadian citizens.
