Canada has ten provinces and three territories. Most of them participate in federal Express entry program (for 600 CRS additional points) and their own immigration programs called PNPs.
Provinces/territories target those workers who are interested in settling in that specific province and can contribute to the economic activity of the province. Immigration through Provinces is local labor market driven and follows different selection criteria for their different provincial immigration steams.
Immigration through PNP is a two-step process
Step1
Applicant must first apply for, and receive a provincial Nomination Certificate from the province/territory. (Provincial/territory Govt.)
Step2
After a successful nomination by a province/territory, a separate application must be made by the nominee to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (Federal Govt.) for Immigration (Permanent Resident) Visa.
Federal Express Entry and Provincial Nomination
Most of the Canadian Provinces participate in federal express Entry program as well, and eligible candidates of relevant provincial immigration stream, with an active profile in the federal express entry system, can apply for provincial Nomination to secure additional 600 CRS points in the federal skill pool.
Each province/ territory has its own immigration streams and selection/nomination criteria for their Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). These can change any time without notice. Forupdated informationvisitofficial website of the province or territory of your preference.
